XPS 420 NVIDIA 8800 GT drivers can't be installed because I have Vista?

I downloaded the drivers from Dell's website here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats?DriverId=R184968&FileId=2731119458&productCode=xps-420&urlProductCode=False

When i tried to install i get this "Nvidia setup error": "Setup detected that the operating system in use is not Windows 2000 or XP.  This setup program and its associated drivers are designed only to run on Windows 2000 or XP.  The instillation will be terminated."

This is in regards to a problem I have been trying to solve where dxdiag does not recognize my video card.  I have an error 43 in the device manager and can't run any games.

Before downloading the driver you need to select the operating system.  When I examine the Drivers and Downloads for the XPS 420 I see an option to select other operating systems at the beginning of the list.  Leaving this at the default gives me the option for "BIOS", not really correct as it seems that the compatibility is for Windows 2000/XP.  If I perform the selection, however, I find options for Vista 32 bit and 64 bit.  Had you told me whether you were using the 32 or 64 bit options I would have provided a link.
