XPS 630i and 64 bits VISTA - Can it be solved? Blue screen 0x7e

When can I expect to be to run 64 bits Vista on my 630i machine. Have tried to boot from 64bits install DVD but the system run into blue screen.

Looking forward to have some answer, since i think it quit stupid to sell quad machines with 8 G mem and 32 bits op system.

Looked on Dells forum for supported operatingsystem and 630i is not mention as a system - is this machine a machine Dell dont wanna have something to do with or ?????

Hi,

maybe you can provide us with the BSOD code.... looks like 0x0 many numbers and letters sometimes

Then we can understand was the issue is.

And a short suggestions,

before you boot from DVD disconnect !!all!!external HW, execpt Monitor, Mouse and Keyboard. :-)

Hey,

first read this :-)

http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1243076&SiteID=17

And second if you have 4gb of rum, take some of it out of your system until you have only 2gb left.

Install vista and then reinstall the Ram again to the full amount you have.

This should fix it.

If your disk does not have SPI installed you need to remove anythinog over 2 gig. you cannot reinstall the extra memory untill you install SP1
