XPS 8300 BIOS A06: Any Risks in Upgrading?
I've added a Samsung EVO 840 SSD to my system, using it as a boot drive. After installing Windows 7, and around 200 updates via Windows Update, I ran into some problems installing WinZip (error code 1).
I had previously had some odd behavior with Update: after installing the first 12 important updates, a new update search resulted in a list of the same 12 updates already installed, as new needed updates. After reinstalling, it seemed to work OK thereafter. However WinZip refused to install, producing a connection error message.
I'm going to reformat and reinstall Windows 7, but I'm wondering if I should update the BIOS to A06, in the hope of improving SSD compatibility.
Are there any risks in updating to A06?
Thanks,
Chris

I installed A06 when it was released and had no problems. If you are performing the clean installation I advise updating windows 7 with WSUS Offline Update before installation of the drivers:

Does anyone else have any information on problems encountered with BIOS A06?
