XPS motherboard form factor?
I have an XPS 720 that I would like to move the motherboard and power supply to another desktop case and need to know what form factor the motherboard is for this XPS 720? Does anyone know if this is feasible to move the motherboard and power supply to a smaller, lighter case? Any information that anyone could provide would be greatly appreicated.

WRONG WRONG WRONG. THE XPS 72O MOTHER BOARD IS BTX DESIGN.
DELL-Manshu S where did you come up with your info as it is completely wrong.
The 700/710/720 system were the only systems to utilize this design. It was a Collaboration between Dell and Intel to handle the cooling needs for the Pentium D series processors. Well Dell fell for it and then Intel pulled the plug on the design and came out with Core Duo series of processors. This rendered the BTX design virtually worthless.
Why do you want to move the components to a different case? The 7xx cases are perhaps the best designed cases Dell ever came up with.
You will run into more troubles and problems than it would be worth trying to change cases. There are few if any BTX cases out there and any ATX case would need a lot of modifications to add in the board.. Then there is the front I/O panel which is necessary to interface the power button to the motherboard as well as a few other functions.
It really is just not practical to attempt this .

Manshu, thank you for the timely answer. Since it is an ATX form factor, this should help me in getting a smaller case to put it in.

Dell XPS 720 comes with NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI Motherboard. Please take a look at the picture below as I would be unable to comment if it would fit in another case.
Form Factor : ATX Form Factor
Length : 12.0in – 304.8mm
Width : 9.6in – 243.6mm
NOTE: Not exact size.
The power supply may fit in a smaller case.

Why are you not referencing DELL Site. It is NOT A generic design.

The main reason was to make the computer a little more manageable as far as weight goes. I inherited this computer and thought that I might be better able to use it if the size was a little smaller. I guess it will be donated to a local charity since it won't fit in my allotted space.

You should be able to tell from the Diagram that the Generic Board in the photo IS NOT LIKE A Dell XPS motherboard in any way.
