ata/ide hard drive question
I had an Inspiron 5100 laptop on which the motherboard is now toast. Before disposing of it, I salvaged the hard drive, an Hitachi ADA/IDE device.
I have a Dell Dimension 4700 desktop in which I installed a second ATA hard drive. Is it possible to also install the hard drive from the old lap top into the 4700? If so, any tricks?
thanks

Actually mounting a laptop drive into a desktop requires both mechanical and electrical adapters; the desktop will not have a bay, nor will it have data/power connectors that can be used without modification.
The easier path would be to purchase an external USB drive shell. These are not expensive and you can use the laptop drive on any computer having an available USB port.
