can't delete folders

Question

I have two folders that I can't delete. They show enpty. When I try to delete it tells me the name is too long or the folder is invalid. I've tried everything. They show enpty. Can someone assist me? Thank you James

Try the obvious first. Right click on the folder and select "Properties" and make sure rhe "Read-only" button is not checked.

Before you “delete” the folders, make sure they are not needed by any program or Windows itself. Sometimes a program uses folders like that to store temporary data.

If it is one that you created, then, it will be safe to remove.

Thanks for the reply. The read only box was checked but did not solve the problem. These are folders I made myself. One tells me the name is too long but won't allow me  to chang the name. The other tells me the directory is not empty. I didn't know it had a directory and it is showing '0' butes. Any further assistance will be appreciated. James

When I uncheck 'read only' and then try to delete it reverts back to 'read only'. There is a gremlin in here. James

You may need to change your view to show system and hidden files.

. Start the computer in DOS mode, go to the same directory and delete the files from there

Download MoveOnBoot. You drop files/folders into the program which can not be deleted. These are then removed at the next cold boot.

I don't know how to use msdos. I tried Move on Boot but it did not work. I also tried Unlocker but no help. How do I start the dos mode. No, never mind. I wouldn't know what to do if I did start it. Thanks again for your effort. James
