computer slows down after a few hours

my computer is only like months old and when i use it for a long time it slows to crawl, the mouse jumps all over the screen, this happens especially while using aol (i assum because it takes alot of system rsources) but even after freeing upsystem resources the computer still runs slow forcing me to restart it several times a day. And i even reinstalled windows me to try to correct this problem but it continued. id appreciate if someone could help fix this.

Hi,

Your system could well be displaying nothing more than out of memory behaviors--slowdowns and lockups are common if the system is short of resources and memory. Have you tried optimizing your startup items list? If not, go to Start | Run | enter msconfig in the field and OK the run. Choose the Startup tab. Make a list of everything here that you have checked and take the list to Denny Denham's Resource Management website. The more you can uncheck from this list, the more resources free you will have, and the less stress there is on the memory of the system, allowing you to run it longer without restarting it. Not knowing what you like to run, I can't guarantee that you won't need to give it a restart once in a while--my systems get one at least once a day, based on what I run, but your situation should improve for you.

HTH,

Kay
