dell dimension xps r450 processor upgrade
for all those who have an old dell dimension xps r450 it is posable to go to a pIII processor many say its not supported but if u have the a09 bios u can put a pIII processor in it i have my specs are
OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional
System Manufacturer Dell Computer Corporation
System Model XPSR450
System Type X86-based PC
Processor x86 Family 6 Model 7 Stepping 3 GenuineIntel ~547 Mhz
BIOS Version/Date Intel Corp. 4S4EB0X1.10A.0019.P09, 8/14/1998
Total Physical Memory 640.00 MB
thats with a 550 pIII prosessor as soon as i can i will be putting a 1.0ghz into itand i will post on how well it works

It is possible - just make sure you get the 100 MHz bus version; the 133 won't work.

Did it myself several years ago - here's a link with lots of info: http://www.roberthancock.com/dell/
One link within that page, however, no longer works, and that was the one with pictures and details that I used.
