dimension 4400 won't power up
my dimension 4400 just won't power up, after I pressed the power button (really hard and over ten seconds) , no fan running, no green light. I am desperate now !
I checked the outlet, changed another power cable, even took off the front cover, none of it helps :-(
Has someone faced similar problem ? Any fix ?
Any suggestion is appreciated. Meanwhile, I will keep waiting for next available rep.
thanks,
Jian

When you open the chassis, you said there's no fan's turning. Check the LEDS at the back of your tower labeled ABCD - are present or not present? If their present what are the led combination. How about the power button on the tower is it GREEN? If not open the chassis and plug the computer on an outlet. Check if the FLEA LED on the motherboard is ON. If it's not on, unplug the computer from the wall and try to reseat the 4pin connector on your Power Supply. The 4 pin connector is basically 4 wires (consisting of a pair of yellow and black wires). Be sure you reseat it back in the mother board correctly. If still NO GO. Call Dell tech support and give the details on:
1) Fans
2) LEDS
3) FLEA LED
4) Power button
If there's complete no power, then it's the power supply- Granted that you have a good power cable. But if there's FLEA LED then the tech support might check for beeps on the motherboard when they ask you to remove the Ram. I suggest you call tech support and give the details and if they need to diagnose further then they will just add a few steps.

thanks, Sorceress, that's exactly what the rep asked me to check.
Unfortunately, none of that worked, so I may be stuck with a bad power supply :-(
thanks for your advice,
