dimension 4700c soundmax audio issues
Hi, a little frustrated here. I've lost sounds capability on my dimension 4700c, seemingly overnight. It's got the integrated audio controller; it shows a code 10 can't start device. I've removed and re-installed the soundmax driver; I've even downloaded and installed the chipset driver as i read in another thread, and tried a system restore and it didn't work as well. There appears to be a common problem with this, yet I've read 30 or more threads from the last five years and can't seam to find a fix.
Does anyone have any problem solving advice for me? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Does the Soundmax device show up in the Device Manager list? If it does, try removing it to see if Windows will reinstall it properly when you restart the system.

Have you changed anything lately, such as installation of a new card or the driver for the sound card?

It shows up in the device manager; when uninstalled and rebooted windows finds it but can't start it; again with the code 10.
