hard drive mounting bracket for Dell 690

Hi

I have just bought a used hard drive bracket on eBay.  IT was described as a: Dell Precision 690 Hard Drive Bracket KC230.  It does not fit in my 690. I note that the part number for the enclosure shown on the Dell website is 400-13376.  I have also not been able to find KC230 on this website.  Can you please confirm that the bracket I have bought is not suitable for my 690?

Thanks

Hi Geoff,

How about a picture of what you bought?

When I search "Precision 690 hard drive caddy", I see a blue plastic frame that appears to mount a hard drive and slide into the case. When I search part #KC230, I see what appears to be a metal drive cage for three drives.

After further searching I have realized  that the bracket referred to is the bracket in the inner drive bay.

Thanks Osprey4,

I think so, is it 400-13376?

Compatible Dell KC230 Systems:

Dell Precision WorkStation: 690 (1 Kw Power Supply and 750 w Power Supply)

   Dell XPS: 700, 710, and 720

You need the bracket or the Blue plastic caddy?

Dell Precision 690 Hard drive caddy -RJ824

KC230 is below.

Ok, so do you know what to order now? Ebay is still probably the easiest place to find this.

Hi No, nice pics:)  I wanted the means to mount a hard drive under the DVD drive. The 690 is quite wide and needs a bracket. I bought the wrong one :(

Hard drive under the DVD drive would be a standard 5.25 inch Drive Drawer.

ICY DOCK ToughArmor MB994SP-4SB-1

4x 2.5 inch SATA Hard Drive/SSD in 1x 5.25 inch Bay Hot Swap Mobile Rack Cage (Black)

One drive would be

SNT SNT-125B Black 3.5" SATA Hard drive to 5.25" Bay

SATA Mobile Rack Removable Hard drive kit

The SNT-125B is a  mobile rack for 3.5” SATA-I and SATA-II hard drive in a 5.25” bay drive.

Hi SpeedStep,

Thanks for the suggestions.  Unfortunately, the Icy dock is quite expensive - £50+ in the UK. I also have a hot swop caddy in a Dell 490 which I use for backing up data on my home network. I am going to buy the StarTech.com 3.5 inch Universal Hard Drive Mounting Bracket Adapter for 5.25 inch Bay.
