If you don't want to go that route, the cord is the same type as the one the tower uses. See if you can find a power cord that is longer at staples or officemax.
Shop around for a short cord that will not mess up the area, there are 4,6,8 foot cords around, any thing longer then try to move the monitor closer to the computer, and yes 3 wire cord!

Buy an extension cord. Get one that will fit you 3-prong AC plug.
