power supply 4700c
Just got a refurbished power supply for my dimension 4700c. Looks exactly the same as the old one EXCEPT it has 2 additional connectors. Old one has connectors labled P1 thru P4, new one has connectors P1 thru P6. P1 thru P4 are same as for the old one. Don't know what to do with P5 and P6. I see an empty slot that P5 would fit in, can 't see a place to plut P6. Can I just leave them disconnected? I couldn't find a Dell manual describing power supply for the Dimension 4700c. Is there one?

Here are the 6 connector assignments for Dimension 4700C PSU:
P1 - 20pin ATX Motherboard Power
P2 - 4pin Pentium 4 Motherboard Power
P3 - SATA Power
P4 - 4pin Floppy/CD
P5 - 4pin Floppy/CD
P6 - 5pin (6pin)(DELL SATA Connector)
Any you don't need should be left disconnected.
EDIT: You can review this too, but it only shows the 4-connector version of the PSU.

http://dell.to/SCUKPJ didn't work, but I just tried it and it worked. don't know why. - I installed the power supply connecting P1-P4, leaving P5 & P6 disconnected. The PSU works fine and I'm back in business. The 4 pin connector to the CD was very difficult to disconnect, I had to carefully pry it open with a small screw driver. This was my first attempt at any hardware repair, so I was afraid of damaging something, but it finally came apart. I took pictures of the cable routing before In started to make sure I replaced them exactly the same. The installaiton procedure was obvious, it was just that the different number of connectors had me worried. Your (RoHe) advice to leave any extra conectors disconnected and the description of each connector gave me the confidence to proceed. I didn't use Prateek's link because it didn't work at the time, but it would have reinforced what I thought I had to do. Thanks to you both.

For some of those connectors, you have to squeeze them to spread the locking tabs so they pull off.
