psu blowing fuses

Question

i have a big problem on me. my son was playing about with my computer and adjusted the power supply units's power output from 230V which is the default for european countries to 115 which i think is for america and that! when i turned on the pc i had some blow noise and then smell and then nothing, i checked the cable's fuse and found out it was fried so i replaced the cable with a spare and checked the back of my pcu and found it had been tempered with so adjusted the power output back to 230v i tried and it done the same thing so far i have had 5 diffrent cables all their fuses blown to pieces!i tried again 2day with diffrent cable but it doesnt blow the fues now but stil aint working,isthere a way ofgetting around this without buying new psu. i have a dell 4300 been runnin for 2 years dont know much about computers so thats all i can tell you please help!

your PSU is fried hands down, You have to get a new power supply at pcpowerandcooling.com

yup, and hopefully only your PSU went, you can get a good PSU such as an Antec with a high Watt rating for pretty cheap these days. Now if your Motherboard or anything got harmed you'll be looked at a big problem.

ashiraf.   From your post, I gather that you don't live in the US.   The Dell D-4300 uses a power supply unit that is standard generic ATX without the power on/off switch, you can buy a replacement from a computer store, but you will have to modify the back of the case for the power switch, or you could buy the replacement from Dell. tnx ppl i took out the psu and opened and found one of the components in the psu had fried so gonna have 2 buy a new one n no i dont live in the us!live in uk! which psu  at cheap price would u recommend i buy im not good with  this sort of stuff thnx

As you require a 250watt power supply without the power on/off switch, unless you are prepared to modify the back of the case for the switch of a standard ATX power supply unit, it may pay you to buy the power supply from Dell UK.
