BIOS Version --- 1.0.15

halfwhit29

  • Microsoft® Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista® Service Pack 2, or Windows XP® Service Pack 3
  • Internet access required
  • AMD Athlon 64 or Intel® Pentium® IV processor required. Some features may require a faster processor.
  • Minimum monitor resolution of 1024×768
  • 1 GB or more of RAM
  • 32 or 64 bit compatible
  • DirectX® 10 (or newer) compatible sound card
  • Microphone required (SmartMusic USB Microphone recommended; 3rd party microphones, including built-in computer microphones, are not supported in SmartMusic)
  • 1 GB available disk space, plus downloaded music will require additional storage space
  • Headphones or speakers required

A P-4 processor is the minimum requirement and is not the only one supported by Smartmusic, as Windows 10 and 8.1 are supported, then all the newer processors must be.

As you already have BIOS version 1.0.15, then there's no need to update the BIOS.

As you will notice there are other requirements to use Smartmusic.

Sounds like you might need to update/install a sound card, instead of using the default integrated sound, depending on it's specifications.

Prior to installing the processor, check that you have BIOS Version 1.0.16 installed, when support for new Intel CPU's was added.

Note: The Dell Inspiron 530s, G33m02 motherboard does not support any Core 2 Quad processors.

Are any of these equal to or better than an Intel Pentium IV processor?

I have a program that is needed for my daughters school and one of its requirements is a pentium IV processor. The current processor will not allow me to install the program currently.

You mentioned in an earlier reply about "Prior to installing the processor, check that you have BIOS Version 1.0.16 installed, when support for new Intel CPU's was added." How do I get this?

Thanks,

Jeremy

I'm not certain I understand your question, but if you mean the obsolete Pentium 4 processor, then most of the processors listed are superior to the P-4.

If you wish to upgrade the Inspiron 530s, then I would use one of the following:

Wolfdale Dual Core E8400, 3.00G, 6MB, 1333FSB, 65W, C0
Wolfdale Dual Core E8400, 3.00G, 6MB, 1333FSB, 65W, E0
Wolfdale Dual Core E8500, 3.16G, 6MB, 1333FSB, 65W, C0
Wolfdale Dual Core E8500, 3.16G, 6MB, 1333FSB, 65W, E0
Wolfdale Core 2 Duo, E8600, 3.33GHz, 6MB, 1333FSB, 65W, E0

All of the above can be purchased at a good price off eBay.

Jeremy,

When was the program published, could you post a link to it?

LGA 775 P-4 processors are not supported by the Inspiron 530s, to have a computer that supports the P-4 you need a Dell Dimension 9100 that was sold around 2005.

Check the system set up for the BIOS version that's installed, to enter the set up, click F2 on startup, also, there should be an F2 prompt on the desktop.

I have spoke with the SmartMusic Support staff and they informed that my processor would not run the program properly. The sound card issue I can handle but I can't even get it installed on my computer yet. Will one of the processors in one of your previous replies allow me to install and run the program properly?

I have no idea which processor will support Smartmusic,, suggest that you post a copy of five processors I listed on Smartmusic's support site and request that their Support Techies inform you which one will be compatible with their software.
