vostro 230 psu

Does Dell make a 600w or better PSU that fits into a Dell Vostro 230? The one I have for my HP is too large for the Dell and Dell's  is not powerful enough to run my video & sound cards.

Hi nomodell4me,

Thanks for the post, I’m afraid the largest Dell PSU that was offered with this system is the 300W. (DG1R8 - Power Supply, 300W, NON PFC) Others have found themselves in similar situations though and used third party hardware to achieve there desired configuration. Check out some of the solutions found in the following forums.

Hello,

I have read these posts prior to entering my question.  Because of Dell's architecture I am limited as to what slots are available so I need to use the most powerful cards I can obtain and they require atleast 600W. Plus I want to run two Nvidia cards in SLI mode right now I'm stuck with a 9600 GT using the 300W PSU.

The Vostro 230 Mini Tower supports standard ATX power supply units, with either a 24-pin or 20+4-pin main motherboard power connector, with or without the on/off switch, are compatible with the Vostro 230.

You should be able to buy the power supply from either a local or online computer store.

Note: For the Vostro 230 Mini Tower a power supply with four SATA power connectors is required.
