you can install only one device at a time, another device installation is underway
this wouldnt be a problem but...
- i am not running any programs or installing any other hardware
- i have restarted my computer several times to try and "cure" the problem and let my computer realize there isnt anything going on
- i have removed the hardware i installed into one of those slots on the harddrive (where you slide stuff like your dial modem into the slots,,, i was sliding in a wireless linksys G. PCI adapter. completely compatible)
-when i ran my computer and the auto-new hardware detected program did not show up i knew something was wrong., i cannot get it to manually run add hardware, it says another device installation is underway but i am not installing or running anything. .. (i tried slding the hardware into a different slot in the back with the same results)
-my computer is completely set up the way it was before i installed the new hardware, and my nortan anti-virus is completely updated. i have also even tried installing a few windows updates.. it still says another device installation is underway.
if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated. i have been trying random things for hours..
save me!! i want to install my new cable modem!!

Try opening MSCONFIG (Start, Run, MSCONFIG.EXE, OK), click the startup tab, click disable all button, click services tab, click the hide all Microsoft services button, click disable all button, click ok, click yes to restart, then try installing you card again. Once done, re-enable all items unchecked.
