Adding Hard Drives to Optiplex 3010

Hi All

I have a Dell optiplex 3010 SFF. The motherboard has 4 SATA connectors but when and if i add more than two drives to the SFF in the Dell BIOS you can only see SATA0 and SATA1.

There are no other sata options or greyed out. Please can someone help me as i need more than 2 drives to get some stuff to work.

You cannot add more internal SATA hard drives to the 3010 SFF, plus there are only two working SATA connectors on the motherboard.

The 3010 SFF is configured for only one 3.5" SATA hard drive and one 5.25" slim optical drive, see pages 58/59 here:

Have you considered using USB external hard drives for additional storage?

Thanks for your help. It does not help when I want to do a software RAID of drives and makes more difficult troubleshooting. It should be possible for me to take out the processor and drop it into another motherboard right?

Yes, the processor can be removed [page 19] and installed on a different motherboard, providing the motherboard and chipset is compatible.
