Broken VGA1 connector on Motherboard

I have an Inspiron 580 and am wondering if  installing an upgraded VGA Card onto one of the two PCI slots would allow me to bypass the VGA1 connector that is loose and not working properly on the motherboard.

The Inspiron 580 Mini Tower has a PCI Express x16 slot, one PCI slot and two PCI Express x1 slots.

The PCIe x16 slot is for an add-on graphics card.

The Radeon HD 5670 512MB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card, as shown in the link below, has a VGA connector and is compatible with the Inspiron 580 Mini Tower's 300w power supply.

Hi,

Welcome to the community

You can install an add-on card on this computer. There are few cards that supports VGA ports. Some has 2 ports on 1 card. Let me know if you still need further assistance.

Hi When Elijah talks about an add on card, what he is talking about is a graphics card. If you have a tower, or mini tower, and not the slim line systems, then you can get a full length card into that system, and that will give you other options, like the DVI,and HDMI connections, as well as a VGA.
