CMOS battery failed - how to replace it?
I have a 3 year old Inspiron 531S. Yesterday my computer installed an update to Vista and was supposed to shut down afterwards, but it never turned off. I had to unplug it and when it tried to reboot it failed. The message said "diskette drive 0 failure. CMOS battery failed". From that I was able to figure out that I need to replace the battery on the motherboard.
What I need to know is: What type of Battery do I need? (CR 2032?) Do I need to get any information from System Setup before I proceed, and if so what do I need to do to get it? Is there a way to get rid of that diskette drive failure alert, since I have no floppy disk drive?
Thanks for any help you can give me. I'm afraid to embark on this before I have the proper info, but also afraid to leave it undone and run into worse problems down the road.

It's a CR 2032. You can buy a pack of two at wal-mart for 3 bucks:) It's the same battery they use in many of the passes for toll booths.

It's a CR-2032 battery. Unplug the system, replace the battery and when you next power up, go into BIOS setup (F2) and turn off the floppy drive setting. Verify that the hard drive is set in the boot list and save.

Replacing the Battery
A coin-cell battery maintains computer configuration, date, and time information. The battery can last several years. If you have to repeatedly reset time and date information after turning on the computer, replace the battery.
To replace the battery:
1
battery release lever
2
battery (positive side)
See the Product Information Guide for battery disposal information.

Thanks to everyone for your help. I'm always so leery about doing any repairs on my computer, even minor ones, that I run for help. By coincidence I have a spare battery on hand from a pack I bought for another device, so I'm good to go.
