There is no such thing as display port to dual display port cable.    DMS59 LFH cards and cables are NOT splitters.

You didn't say which video card you have or what ports are available on the card or on these monitors.

You'll probably need 2 different cables to connect both monitors to the add-in video card because the card probably doesn't have two that are the same.

Or you may be able to connect one monitor to the add-in card and the other to one of the on-board video ports (DisplayPort and HDMI). But, you'll have to connect the first monitor to the add-in card and then open BIOS setup (Reboot and immediately press F2) and enable the Intel Multi-Display option (might have slightly different name on the 8910). Then power off and connect the 2nd monitor to the onboard port.

The back of my computer has the following:

1 HDMI

1 Display Port

1 RJ-45 (10/100/1000Base)

1 Audio (7.1 channel (6 Jack) Premium Audio Performance)

1 Mic

1 Line-in

4 USB 3.0 ports

2 USB 2.0 ports"

The monitor has the following:

Connectivity

DP connector (include DP in and DP out)

mDP connector

HDMI (MHL) connector

my receipt says:  NVIDIA (R) GeFource (R) GT730 with 2 GB Graphics Memory.

Does this info help?  Can i just plug in HDMI back of computer to HDMI back of monitor?  So i'd have two separate cords out of the back of the computer to each monitor.

You need one separate video cable from the back of PC to each monitor, for a total of 2 video cables.

Since you have an NVidia card, the first monitor must be connected to the card  (#2), not to either onboard video port (circled area):

That card probably has an HDMI port and maybe DisplayPort (DP) and/or DVI or VGA.

The  U2417H monitor has HDMI, DP-input (not to be confused with the DP-output port also on the monitor), and m-DP.

So the first connection should be HDMI on video card to HDMI on monitor #1. The second connection can be DP on video card (if available) to DP on monitor #2. That means you would need 2 different types of cables. 

Alternatively, you could connect the onboard HDMI port (in circled area) to the HDMI port on monitor #2. But FIRST, you have to look in BIOS setup for an Intel Multi-display option and enable it. I can't tell if this option is available because it's not listed in the online docs.

If you use HDMI on the video card and onboard HDMI, you need two identical cables.

From what my Dell tech sources are saying, you probably don't have that Intel Multi-Display option in BIOS setup and there's a plastic cover over the 2 onboard video ports. So you will have to connect both monitors to the add-in NVidia card (#2 in the photo).

Unless the Nvidia card has 2 HDMI ports, you'll have to use a DP port on the card (assuming it has DP) and connect it to the DP-input port on monitor #2. So you'll need to buy a DP cable for that.

Please tell us what ports are on the video card so we can help you choose the best way to set this up.

It appears your GeForce GTX 730 video card has Dual-link DVI-D, HDMI, and VGA outputs. So you're going to need a DVI-D>HDMI adapter like this one (but shop around) and a second HDMI cable to connect monitor #2.

You probably need an adapter with male DVI-D on one side and female HDMI on the other, and a male/male HDMI cable of the right length. But be sure to confirm the "gender" of the connectors on your PC and monitor for yourself before ordering any adapters and cables.

Your photo shows monitor #1 connected to the onboard DisplayPort connector.

Did you remove the plastic cap over the DP and HDMI port directly below it? It was my understanding that those ports are covered when there's an add-in video card because you're only able to use the ports on the card.  Maybe that's not true.

Anyway, if that works, you might be able to use an HDMI cable from the video card (below the green sound port) directly to monitor #2 without an extra adapter.

Post back and let us know if you can use the onboard DP for monitor 1 and the add-in card's HDMI for monitor 2, without needing that adapter.

I did not have time over the weekend to hook up the second monitor, but i will report back.  Every once in a while i'm getting these spots.  Suggestions?  My computer and monitor are only 3 weeks old.
