Inspiron desktop won't startup.

Hi,

When I my Inspiron desktop it tries to boot but gets to various stages and shuts down.

The power button flashes orange and there is a beeping sound.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi gwaddell1,

I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check if you are able to switch ON the system properly without beeps.

  1. Switch off the computer.
  2. Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
  3. Remove the battery from the computer.
  4. Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
  5. Then connect back all the peripherals and check if you are able to turn on the system properly without beeps.

Also,I would suggest that you run the diagnostics on the computer by following the steps mentioned in the video below and check if there is any issue with the hardware on your system.

Please let us know the number of beep codes you receive they should beep in a pattern.

i did what you said but it still won't turn on.

The power button flashes orange and the beep pattern is 5.

Hello Ravi,

The other thing I forgot to mention is that after I go through the process and then plug the power cord back in the power button stays constant orange then starts to flash and beep after I press to start it up.

It does try to start but only for a few seconds.

Hi  gwaddell1,

I would need the model number of the Dell system you have so that I could tell you the nature of error related to 5 beeps error and suggest you further course of action.
