Need help on memory type for upgrading Inspiron desktop 620
Dell tells me the best for my pc is 10600 (1333mhz CL-9) but Crucial tells me it's 12800 (1600mhz CL-11) I want the best and the one that is most future proof but I don't want to give my processor more or less than it can use. As you can see my processor is 3.1ghz so since there are 2 memory slots I'm thinking 2 x 1600 might be better but I read lower CL rating is faster so any help would be great. My config:
Inspiron 620

The Dell manual lists 1333 Mhz DDR3 "only" for this model. You can use 1600Mhz but it will only run at the speed of the memory bus (apparently 1333 Mhz). Thus there is no "future proof". You are at the "future" with 1333 Mhz speed memory. The only thing you could do is max out the memory (8 GB).
There is also an i5 CPU version but the Dell manual doesn't differentiate memory speeds between CPU versions.

Yeah, thanks a bunch. The only reason to go with the 1600 would be if I saw an upgrade in my future so I just ordered the 1333. Firefox just devours so much memory.
