Windows 8 recovery from partition
Windows 8 recovery from partition How can I recover my Dell desktop (Windows 8) from the built in recovery partition without using the CD? I have tried the reboot 4 times trick, f8 isn't an option for windows 8. What happened is we did a Windows update on the computer and it rebooted into a winding font. I can't see anything on the screen I can't go into the control panel and go into recovery options. My only option is the built in recovery partition since I don't have the disks. Thanks.

Thank you for reaching us.
F8 isn't an option to enter recovery mode in Windows 8.
If you are able to get into Windows, Please try the steps given below. This is ONLY for Windows 8.1, Not windows 8.
The machine restarts to a bluescreen with multiple options.
Then follow the onscreen instruction. Choose "Factory image" if youre given an option to select the backup you want to restore your laptop to.

Your other option is to use a working computer to create a bootable windows 8 USB flash drive.
Should be at least 8 gigs in size and should be the 64 bit version.

If you need to install or reinstall Windows 8.1, you can use the tool on this page to create your own installation media using an 8gig USB flash drive.
Before you begin, here are some things you’ll need:
PC with a reliable Internet connection. The download is about 4 GB and the time it takes to download will vary based on your PC, your connection speed, and other factors.
USB flash drive. Use a USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of space. We recommend using a drive with nothing on it because any content will be deleted.
Edition of Windows. You should also choose the same edition of Windows. This might be Windows Home or Windows Pro.

If it came with Windows 8 then its advisable to clean install Windows 8.1 due to the difficulties and drop in performance from getting Windows 8.1 via the store. Moreover the time it takes to download and clean install a Windows 8.1 .iso is faster than reverting to Windows 8 factory settings, downloading WIndows 8.1 then reinstalling all the system drivers:
