replacement card suggestions - for a 1024MBnVidia GeForce GT220 graphics card ???

Seems the fan may not be [easily] replaced in my 1024MBnVidia GeForce GT220 graphics card (monitor is connected to it HDMI) to a Dell XPS 9000 (i7 2.66 Ghz), 8GB ram, and makes noise when under load. I have cleaned it, etc.  The temps are OK but since we now use the computer to watch TV (via HD HomeRun) it is annoying to hear the buzzing.  (I have yet to find a replacement for the fan.)

Any recommendations on an inexpensive replacement card?

Can i just get any PCI type of video card - or do I need to be careful on what may fit/work well in the Dell?

My son uses the computer to watch TV, movies.  We are not intense gamers (some online stuff).  It is connected to a Dell ST2310 HD monitor (HDMI).

Thx.

Thanks.

I had been looking at this as well.. just a few $ more with rebate.

An inexpensive card like the HD 6450 found HERE should be fine for your purposes.  It does not have a fan so you won't have to be concerned about noise.  You need a PCI Express x16 video card.

HD 7750 is a good card ... actually a much better upgrade ... if down the line you decided to do a bit of gaming the HD 7750 would let you do it much better than the card you are replacing.  that's a really good deal after rebate.

The HD 7750 is a superior card for gaming.  You are paying $40 more for it upfront.  I hate rebates because sometimes I do everything right and never get it.  Also make note of the HD 6570 which is a card in between the other two.

I don't like the looks of the fan; it might be noisy.

This is what I have in my "ride" (an XPS 8500) and it's whisper-quiet: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161403

Have not yet got a new card and just saw this.. ~$21 with rebate... seems to be an upgrade from what I have.
