Migrating EMC Clarion CX3 to VNX5300

Hi All

We currently have a Clarion CX3 and have recently purchased a VNX5300. All our hosts currently connect to the Clarion via fibre.

We about to implement Microsoft Hyper-V into the company and migrate all servers over to the VNX. All VM's will connect to the VNX5300 via iscsi.

All the VM's will be be stored on a CSV on the VNX. What's the easiest way of migrating the hosts data on the Clarion to VHD's onto the VNX

Eg.

Exchange Server:

OS(C drive) and Program Data(D drive) will be stored on the CSV in one VHD

E: Data - Convert to VHD stored via iscsi

F:Logs - Convert to VHD stored via iscsi

What's the correct procedure?

Thanks

Steven

Steven,

the easiest way to migrate data from CX3 to VNX is by using SanCopy (that came free with your purchase of VNX array). You can ask EMC to install SanCopy enabler on CX3 instead of VNX as this will allow to perform incremental pushes from CX3 to VNX. See this paper for more details

White Paper: Migrating Data from an EMC CLARiiON Array to a VNX Platform Using SAN Copy
