Adding Equallogic Array PS4100XV

Hi Dell Team,

What are things that I need to consider when upgrading or adding an Equallogic Array.

I have existing PS 4100XV array and I have incoming order of another EQL box next week. I dont know how to start and Do we have some pre-requisites that we need to follow before joining it to the existing array group.

Do I still need to backup the data of the existing array or I can just join it to the group.

Will appreciate your feedback.

thanks a lot!

First thing, you never had to backup your data before adding a new member.  Having backups is always a good idea on general principle.

The new array will likely come with 6.0.x firmware.   So your existing array should be at 6.0.7.

What kind of switches are you using?   How are the interconnected.   Without sufficient interswitch connectivity the additional load on the switches from additional member.

When you add the new array, I would suggest putting it in its own pool, upgrade the firmware to 6.0.7 and let the RAIDset finish building before moving it to the same pool your existing array is in.
