Dear Experts,
I am using Server DELL EqualLogic PS4000 EX. Recently i make replacement a faulty HD. Server show that new HD status is Spare. However its light is off, but not green. I am wondering new HD is working or not. The only difference is that new HD have different firmware from the other.
Thanks a lot in advanced for any help or support.

Hello,
Likely that spare has been spun down to save power and extend life. As long as it shows up in the GUI you are fine.

Hello,
You are very welcome.
Re: drive. not there's not a way to do that. However, in the background the array runs tests on every drive, one at a time. When it hits the spare it will spin it up and test it, then shut it down.
