FS7600 - Access/Cluster interface in multiple subnets?
I have an FS7600 connected to 2 Equallogics on a site and there are 2 IP subnets on site separated via VLANs. One for PC’s (10.10.1.0/24) and the other for MACs (10.10.2.0/24). The FS7600 is installed in the PC subnet and is accessible via an IP in that subnet (10.10.1.250).
The MAC’s can also access the IP of the FS7600 in the PC subnet, but need to route to reach it and unfortunately the route they need to take means their network traffic has to go via a 100MB point to point connection between the their site and another HQ site which is a huge bottleneck for performance as you can imagine? We cannot change the network routing design under any circumstance for a number of reasons.
We do have control over the switches on the site and can amend VLAN port settings on the ports connected to the client network on the FS7600.
Is it possible to give the FS7600 an additional access/cluster IP in the MAC subnet whilst retaining it’s IP in the PC subnet to allow both MAC and PC clients to reach it without having to route?

Can anyone confirm/deny if this is possible/supported?

It is not possible to configure more then one subnet on the client network for the FS76xx NAS. Think of the way a typical NIC is configured, you can't have more then one subnet assigned to a standard NIC either.
The virtual IP address used for client access to the entire NAS subsystem controls (redirects traffic) to a physical interface on the NAS client side. The Virtual IP and physical Client interfaces must all be on the same subnet, and can't be divided into other subnets.
If there are clients that reside on a subnet that is not the same as the NAS cluster client subnet, the network is routed, and clients can access NAS container data by using a router or layer 3 switches. In a routed network configuration, configure multiple NAS cluster IP addresses for proper load balancing.
You will either need to update the slower link or change other components of the network to get more direct route to the NAS from the Mac workstation subnet.
