Don,

is it right that EQL SyncRep doenst support the failback?

@Anders

Take a look to TR1085

Ok, I read up on SyncRep, and it looks promising.

I'll research it further :)

Thanks for your help guys.

Ok, sounds good, but do the synchronous replication use the same ammount of snapshot space as regular replication?

This is kinda the reason we would like to avoid replication because we have 4TB of space on the 6100 today and with 3 1TB LUNs, each with 20% snapshot reserve, there isn't much space left for replication snapshots.

Or am I way off here?

The docs says you need 5% snapshot reserve per SyncRep volume. Keep in mind that PS41xx is limited to 4 syncRep volumes.

@Don,

i mean the switch to a SyncAlternate and back. Not the "fast failback".  Also not sure if it works in a VMware Environment without downtime.

Hi Don,

I am about to start deploying SyncRep across 2xPS4110 connected to 2xVMWare servers.

All the discussion above and in the docs seem to point to a manual failover being required for this config. Is the case or can I configure the iSCSI LUN to automatically fail to the alternate pool in the event the primary pool is not available?

Apologies if this is a stupid question but I'm still researching the SyncRep feature.

Thanks.

Thanks Don.

Is this feature confirmed? Any timeline for the feature release?

My customer somehow doesn't trust that the Equallogic PS will stay running after getting burned by some 3-letter company FC SAN. :) and really wants to have 2 whole PS units backing each other up!
