What model Broadcom and FW version of the NIC?  Also, what configuration are you using, TOE, iSCSI Offload Mode (HBA) or NDIS?

Hi Joe,

F/W 7.2.x and the latest drivers from the Dell website v17.4.0.0

Noting using iSOE just the standard NIC mode.

Thanks Joe,

I always set the EEE setting to maximum performance as it seems logical. You post doesn't mention any buffer value. I might do some testing if you don't have any values.

Can someone think of a reason why setting buffers to max values isn't a good idea, other than memory consumption.

Thanks

Flow Control = Tx Enabled (or Rx & Tx Enabled)

Interrupt Moderation = Enable *see note 1

Large Send Offload = Disable

Checksum Offload = None

Receive Side Scaling (RSS) = Enabled

Jumbo MTU = enabled (set the value of this field to 9000)

TCP Connection Offload = Disable

Wake Up Capabilities = None

Note 1 - Interrupt Moderation

a) Hyper-V cluster Virtual Machines may take a long time to boot up and login when Interrupt Moderation is DISABLED.

b) TCP retransmits may occur more frequently when Interrupt Moderation is DISABLED, especially on backup servers and high demand server applications like SQL.

I don't have an specifc recommedations for EEE control policy, and the defaults are a starting point.
