PS 4000 Changing the Network Settings

We have a PS4000 set up as storgage for a SQL box. To cut long story short in initial configuration it was set up incorrectly with no Mgt Port configured and the Group IP and network cards ip's set up on same subnet as our other servers. Since this was done we have had another Equallogic installed and this time it's done correctly i.e different VLAN for ISCSI traffic.

What I would like to do is to go back to our PS4000 and move the Group IP and network cards onto the ISCSI VLAN. My forst step was to configure a MGt port but it wouldn't let me do this as it requires to be on a different subnet than the Group IP and NIc cards.

Is there a correct procedure to carry this out.  Yesterday I had a go. I changed the ports on teh switch to the ISCSI VLAN then I tried to change the GROUP IP via the GUI to a new IP on this VLAN. I immediately lost connection. I then had to back out my changes to get me back up and running.

I had a look and saw CLI commands that might help me out but I'm unsure on what order to change what i.e nic cards then Group IP or other way about.

Thanks in advance

Its hard to follow.... the mgmt network is optional so you can setup up it when ever you want! The hosts never uses this mgmt network because they want to reach the iscsi ports so normaly there is no change there. If you install a EQL from scratch it wants to configure the scsi rather the his mgmt port :)

When you active the mgmt network you will get a 2nd virtual IP but this is just for the mgmt prospectiv.

The EQL doesnt support VLAN, so the ports on the pSwitch have to be Untagged. Your hosts of course can use Tagged ports/vlan.

If you have to change the iSCSI Subnet you have to put your hosts which mount volumes from the EQL first.

Which one is the new subnet you would like to use for mgmt? If you setup mgmt you can easily change the iscsi ipaddresses of all ports together with the iSCSI Group IP.

Of course you need to change the iscsi Initiator of every hosts later. To make like easier you should unmound the volume first or just shutdown the host.

Well, if you would like to do it through the GUI, setup a temporary MGMT under 10.3.3.x. If you than can reach it (if you dont want to modify your routing connect your laptop/pc directly into the pSwitch and choose a free IP) and than change the iSCSI Group IP and all the ports. Now you can swap the subnet for your MGMT back to 10.3.1.x

Otherwise you have to pull out the seriell cable and play with some cmd voodoo.

Hi thanks for replying. Reading my original post it was perhaps not as clear as it could have been :-)

What I want to do is move the Equallogic from from ip subnet 10.3.1.x to 10.3.2.x  When I attempted to move it yesterday  I changed the ports on our network switch to connect to 10.3.2.x.  I then lost connection via the GUI when I changed the Group IP to 10.3.2.x  Is it better to change Eth0 and Eth 1 first and then the GROUP IP

Regarding the host I would have thought I would have used the ISCSI initiator to discover  it once I had changed the settings on the EQL

The 10.3.2.x subnet is where I want the ISCSI traffic to go through. The 10.3.1.x network is where our other server traffic sit and I would like our Mgt port to be on this. Of course I can't set that just now because I can't configure a mgt port to be on the same subnet as the ISCSI traffic.
