Check the following:

The SAN HeadQuarters Server must be running and have the correct SNMP community name and IP address specified for the group.

The TCP/IP communication infrastructure must be enabled on the SAN HeadQuarters Server with the appropriate firewall rules established. If this infrastructure is not enabled, the SAN HeadQuarters Server will still be listed as "Connected," showing a green circle icon next to the server name in the Servers and Groups tree in the far-left panel. However, the Live View feature is disabled.

To correct this problem, rerun the SAN HeadQuarters installation on your server in Modify/Repair mode. During the reinstallation process, the Installation Wizard will present a dialog box asking you to select Enable TCP/IP Communication, enter an IP address (or server name), and enter the port number for communication.

The SAN HeadQuarters Client must not have a degraded connection to the server. To isolate what is causing this, you should download the SAN-HQ User guide, and review the possible causes (Page 44 titled “Degraded Connection Status”.

If after doing all this and you still have a problem, you might want to open a support case with us.

Well, I've checked everything - repaired the install too and it all is fine. SANHQ server and client are running on the same machine.

Since the PS5000 is working perfectly for Live sessions (for member AND volumes as targets) I don't think there's any misconfiguration on the SAN HQ server/client.

The Live view of volumes work fine for the PS6100, just no data is displayed for the "member" target. I guess I'll have to raise a case after Christmas...

Prior to contacting support, check the following:

You may want to try the latest version of SAN HQ.  SAN HQ v2.2.0 is located here: support.equallogic.com/.../download.aspx (support login required)

If you are running the latest version of SAN HQ, you may want to do a controller failover on the PS6100.

Note doing a controller failover should be done during a planned “downtime” or maintenance window, since this will take about 20-45 seconds to do.  Also, ensure you have your iSCSI disk timeout values setup on your Host servers per the document titled “iSCSI Initiator and Operating System Considerations” located on the FW download page (in the section “other documents”: support.equallogic.com/.../download.aspx

To do the failover, simply restart the member, login to the Group Admin GUI> Select the Member> Maintenance Tab> Restart
