MD3000i MDSM Client Error

Whenever I try to open the Modular Disk Storage Management Client I get this error

Unable to start because of a file permission error on one or both of the following configuration files: (emwdata_v03.bin and emwback_v03.bin).

You must correct the read and write permission problem for both configuration files before restarting the storage management software.

I can find the emwdata_v03.bin file but I'm unsure what the permissions need to be in the first place. Any help would be great

Thanks
Tim

What OS?

Usually, it means the application was not installed by a local admin account.
You can try to add everyone (with full control) to the permissions list for the md storage manager folder, then launch the app, then close it and then remove everyone from the permissions list and see if that fixes the issue.

Otherwise, log in as a local admin, uninstall it, reboot, log back in as local admin, install it, test.
Log out and log in using your regular account and test again.

Thanks for the response. We ran into some disk space issues so I really needed to get this fixed. Called into to Dell and we were told to re-install the software. Looks like you were right Aaron. Thanks

replacing the 'emwdata_v03.bin' file from a working MDSM installation fixed the issue for me.

I renamed the file to *.000 and started the Disk Storage Manager again - it recreated the .bin file and opened OK.
