1920X1200 display blurry text and graphics

Hi all

I purchased a new Vostro 1700 with WINXP and the WXUGA (1920X1200) display.

When i booted up I was dismayed to find the screen was blurry and not displaying graphics correctly (especially in Internet Explorer) for instance a graphic that should display a single pixel straight line would display as a fuzzy, crooked line.

Needless to say as a web designer I was alarmed...

If this is happening to you here's what's going on:

I am guessing, but i think the powers-that-be at Dell feared that the very fine resolution of this screen (133.5 pixels per inch of screen) would be too fine for many people to see clearly, so they shipped (mine at least) with the graphics adapter set to expand the DPI.

To set this correctly, open the Display Properties (right click on the desktop and select "Properties", click the "Settings" tab, and then the "Advanced" button.

In the "General" tab is a drop-down menu labeled "DPI setting:"

Reset this from "Large size (120 DPI)" to "Normal size (96 DPI)" and click "Apply and "OK"

What an AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL screen this is!!!

Hope this helped somebody.
