Adding wireless USB "N" network adapter to an old Inspiron 1300

I'm looking at adding a D-Link wireless "N" network adapter to an old Inspiron 1300.

Do I have to disable the existing wireless b card that comes with the Inspiron 1300.  If so, how would I do that?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks, JJ

You would not have to disable the original wireless card. The question is if the new D-Link wireless card is actually compatible with the notebook. If you can get an express card version of the wireless card that has Windows XP drivers it should work fine in theory.

The wireless B card is in a special slot and can be removed.

Wireless N can be done via tiny USB dongle.

opps plugs in the express slot run the d-link software & go to system settings and disable the internal wireless card. so it you lose your express card at least you can still use the internal card.
