Battery Not Charging Dell Inspiron N4010
My laptop is a little over 2 years old and up until recently has been running like new. One day it stopped charging the original battery that came with the computer. Down by the battery icon a message would pop up that says "__% available (plugged in, not charging)". After doing some research I checked the original batteries life which said that it was good. I took out the battery and ran the computer on just the adapter. It ran the same way it always has but I started getting a black screen after booting the computer with a type of warning message with the options to press F1, F2, or F3 (run in safe mode, start normally and check for errors I believe are the options). The information I found online said that it is normal for the batteries life to decrease over time so I bought a new replacement battery, plugged it in and it worked just fine. I went to charge the new battery and again I got "___% available (plugged in, not charging". I've tried using the adapter (of the same voltage) from another Dell Inspiron model and even that adapter doesn't charge the battery in my computer (the battery will charge if plugged into the borrowed Inspiron). I noticed that with either adapter, the light that indicates battery life on the bottom left of the laptop will come on for a maximum of 5 seconds before going off. The first two lights still flash properly.
I have a feeling that the problem may be internal but I'm also wondering if buying a new adapter would be the simple solution. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If the warning message is that the AC adapter isn't recognized, the battery will not charge.
Try a new Dell OEM adapter (NOT a third party adapter) first. If that doesn't solve the problem, you have an issue with the DC jack or mainboard.
