Battery Test for Latitude E6410
I "think" I need to purchase a new battery, but after reading several Posts, I'm not sure that is my only problem.
I don't want to spend the money on a battery (off of the web) and not fix my problem. So, I would like a "TEST" for the existing battery and suggested steps I can take to insure myself that when I spend my money on a battery it will solve my problem.

There is no real test for a battery.
If the battery won't charge, check to make sure the AC adapter is recognized by the system. F2 at powerup to check in Setup. If the adapter shows unknown, the battery won't charge. This is one of three things: a bad adapter, a bad power jack or a bad mainboard.
If the adapter IS recognized, but the battery won't charge, the battery is likely bad.
If the battery DOES charge but won't hold a charge, the battery is likely bad -- particularly if it's over two years old.
