Can't disable touchpad after recent Windows 10 update
I have two Inspiron 17 5748 laptops and one Inspiron 17 7737. All of which were running Windows 10, and all of which had their touchpads disabled. This is the first thing I do when I get a laptop. I can't use a machine with touchpad enabled. Everything was fine until this big Win10 update this week; now the touchpads are enabled even though the Dell utility reports them as disabled. On all three machines.
I cannot use a touchpad, and I cannot get anything productive done on these computers with my cursor flying everywhere - please tell me there is some other way of disabling it, otherwise I will need to either find a way to roll back this update or junk all three computers.

You need to go to the Mouse/Touchpad section of the Control Panel and look forward an option to disable the pad or disable it when a mouse is plugged in. If you can not find an option, you will need to install a Win compatible pad driver. The upgrade may have installed a generic driver if the existing driver was not compatible with Win 10. Dell may have one. Many Win 8/8.1 drivers will work. You may have to go to the pad manufacturer's site to find one. You can also try other OEM's sites. I have found many pad drivers on the Toshiba site.

I had to call Microsoft and they disabled the driver to the touchpad (at least that is what the technician told me she did). Dell technician could not do it and I have a service agreement with Dell.
