Computer keeps disconnecting from the internet

I just got BT Infinity and whenever I download something or run speed test (speedtest.com) my computer disconnects from the internet and shortly after connects again. How do i fix this?
I am running a dell latitude d600 with windows xp. Before bt infinity i just had a normal bt home hub and that worked fine. I don't think this is happening on other computers connected to the network but i can't be sure. I am using Wi-Fi, not ethernet and i haven't tried connecting via ethernet yet but the hub is in a different room and i cant move anything from room to room because of the set up.

A previous answer i got was to re intall my wireless router. I thought this had worked, but it only suspended the time before the disconnect for about 1 min. Then it just went back to disconnecting straight away again.

I deleted all of the wireless driver files and installed all of the wireless drivers on the dell page. Turns out that there were some vital ones i w as missing and now it works.

Thauke,

The ip address looks ok. Are you using any type of peer to peer program? On XP it would mess with your winsock and cause connection problems.

Download and run WinSock XP Fix

I also use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11. I would make a new SSID to make connecting easier

Thauke,

What service pack of XP do you have installed?

What virus program and firewall are you using?

Can you run an ipconfig /all log and post it back here?

Can you also run Network Interface and post that information?

I tried doing what you said, uninstalling hamachi, running WinSockXPFix, and using the reccomended wireless settings but it still doesn't work.

It worked fine before i got bt infinity - when i just had normal bt internet instead of fibre optic - so  maybe my wireless adapter isn't good enough? I'm not sure.
