ControlVault firmware update failure on a Dell Precision 7710
Hi,
I purchased a Dell Precision 7710 laptop 2 months ago from Dell's website with the fingerprint touch sensor. Afterwards, I installed Windows 10.
The laptop has been working fine until I installed the following update for ControlVault
Dell ControlVault2 Driver and Firmware
View details
File Name: Security_Driver_JP80V_WN64_4.4.28.187_A06.EXE
Importance: Recommended
Description: Update Package for Microsoft® Windows® 64-Bit. (27.78 MB)
Release Date: 10 Aug 2016
Version: 4.4.28.187 ,A06
Last Updated: 19 Aug 2016
The update appeared to succeed, but now I get a notification saying "ControlVault firmware upgrade in progress" EVERY REBOOT. I tried uninstalling the ControlVault application, but that doesn't get rid of the popup.
In the Event Manager, it shows an Event ID 2 for the source "USHUpgradeService" with a description of "CV firmware upgrade failed".
1) How can I uninstall the ControlVault software?
2) Is there a fix for a bad firmware install? Or is the ControlVault hardware useless now?
