Dell 7370 Black Screen, no BIOS

Question

I bought a Dell 7370, after installing Windows, Bios Update and driver (latest was graphic drivers) the laptop went into black screen. So when Iam starting it only power LED, charging LED and Keyboard light is working and I can here some coil whine.

I chatted with Dell Support an das long I have no working Service Tag they cannot help me with physical Support.

I already tried some things, like almost total disassembling the notebook.

Further I tried forced ePSA and the bios recovery. In both cases the display doesnt show anything. In case of the bios recovery with USB Stick (Formated with FAT32 and containing the renamed Bios file) I can see that the USB is working (Usb led is lighting). With a normal start up its not lighting. But I dont know what to press to maybe start the recovery, maybe someone can tell me how to trigger the recovery without seeing anything on the display.

The only thing that works i tried today is starting with pressing „D“, so in this case the Display works fine and shows the colors.

Maybe somebody has an idea what I could try here or can help me with the Bios recovery.

I bought the Notebook in Germany for a cheap price and it was working well at the beginning (it has an english keyboard). Inside the Notebook I can read a lot of stickers with rev. 0.1 and (08.2015) and the Bios at the beginning was 99.1.4. And under the keyboard is says Latitude E7370 instead of Latitude 7370. Could it be that this is some pre model or something ? In Germany they tried out to find the Service tag with the serial numbers from the charging cable and the battery, but they said these parts were bought seperately. It just seems theres something weird about the notebook…

You can start the computer and Tap the F2 Key to enter the bios. Within the bios is the system service tag. Are you able to get into Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key at start up?

Thanks for your answer. No I cant see anthing on the screen, F2 and F8 doenst help. Do you may  know how I can start Bios Recovery without seeing anything or anything else I could try.

The problem is that the screen is black, like in first post my questions is if somebody could tell me how to do step 5 and 6 from BIOS Recovery without seeing anything on the screen.

Like i mentioned in case starting with Bios Recovery my USB Stick working (LED is on) with a normal start its off. So I think something is still working.

I tried pressing enter and different other keys in BIOS Recovery but nothing was happening.

The Dell Latitude 7370 support the BIOS recovery tool. I suggest you try the steps in link below and see if that will make a difference.

We have the same but worse problem as 9.999.

We update BIOS on two Latitude 7370 and it stop switch ON completely. Power LED and Caps Lock have lights just for a few seconds when we take off AC power and hold any buttons (Ctrl+Esc, F8, F2) and switch AC power back.

I read here en.community.dell.com/.../20002158, that for another Dell Laptop a "crisis file" helped.

Is there a crisis file for the Dell 7370, or does anyone know, where I could ask for the file ?

Or does anyone think flasing the Bios externally could make sense here. I would be open for other suggestions manipulating the mainboard, as long as I have no guarantee i would try anything. Thanks

Hey. Have you solved your problem?

My E7370 died today with the same symptoms. The AC LED lights up, but the screen is dark.

CTRL + ESC does not help. The test of the screen through button D works.

USB is working as i see led flashing on USB stick.

In another thread titled {Dell Inspiron N5110 bios update failure} someone explains how to flash bios a different way without screen..Replace renames with your BIOS file.Copied and Pasted from original post.

DominosX.Solution fo recovery bios Dell N5110

1. Download the latest firmware from the Dell support

2. Save the exe and create a shortcut with the following parameter: " /writehdrfile"

3. Start the created shortcut and it will create a n5110a11.hdr file rename the file to N5110.hdr

4. Create a shortcut exe file with the following parameter: " /writeromfile"

5. Start the created shortcut and it will create a n5110a11.rom file rename the file to DQ15A11.rom

6. Copy both file "N5110.hdr" and "DQ15A11.rom" to a FAT formatted pendrive's root folder

7. Remove the charger and Battery from the laptop

8. Plug In the pendrive

9. Press & hold END

10. Connect the charger (still hold END)

11. The notebook starts automatically and shows the recovery screen

12. Press enter and wait until finish the flashing

13. Press esc to restart

14. Hopefully problem solved

I dont know if this would work at all .Try HDMI cable to your tv.

Thanks for answer. Unfortunaly keys ' /writeromfile' and ' /writehdrfile' are not supported by latest 'Latitude_7370_1.13.5.exe' BIOS. Any other way to get this files?

You would think that Dell labs could try a recovery and be able to tell you what buttons need pressed on keyboard to proceed when you do not have a screen to work with.Surely this is something that could be answered.You would think enter would do it but there is probably a choice to proceed or exit..Wish I could have helped.

The screen is OK, but BIOS is down that why there is no image on the display.

I need 2 recovery files to reflash BIOS from USB stick as described in previous messages.

It is impossible to extract them from file.
