Dell Inspiron 11 3000 CPU choice

I am thinking of buying a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 trying to decide which CPU to get:

Intel Pentium N3530 2.16GHz vs Intel Core i3-4010U 1.7GHz  same price however Dell thinks the i3-4010 is faster than the N3530.  However I am hearing that the N3530 is a better CPU than the i3.  Costs being the same which would you get and why.

A coworker has the N3530 version and it seems a bit slow....

Hi,

Not sure how much of a difference, performance wise, there is between the two procs.   This site rated the Core i3 slightly higher, but only slightly.   If you take a look at their numbers the i3 is better at performance but the N3530 is better at power consumption.

Take a look at that page, and there are probably other websites out there doing the same sort of comparisons.  I think the two are pretty similar so it comes down to which factors such as standard performance, power consumption, etc., that you you prefer for how you plan to use the system.

I hope this helps.

If you're looking for a tablet-notebook for routine web surfing, the choice of CPU likely doesn't matter.  If you're looking to use the sysem as a full-blown notebook, neither is going to suffice - look for a more capable system (the 5000 series would be a minimum).
