Dell Latitude D520 re-boot

When I left work, they let me keep my laptop but it's now become corrupt and it won't load so I want to reboot it but ctrl f11 doesn't seem to work. I have tried holding the keys....pressing them numerous times....and trying to get it just in time for the bios screen but still nothing.... Dell latitude D520 Windows XP Please help.... Dave

You're going to need to purchase a Windows disc and do a manual install.  Before you do that (see link), run an extended hard drive diagnostic (F12 at powerup) on the hard drive.

CTRL F11 will not fix it if the recovery partition is not there. Nor will it repair a physically Bad hard drive. Given the age of the unit I would say your hard drive is dead.  You need a Green Dell XP SP2 CD to reinstall.

Has to be the same version of windows aka XP Home or XP pro that is listed on the COA sticker.
