Dell Latitude D830 - Not powering up

Welcome to the community.

Please unplug the ac adapter and also take off the battery from your system. Once done,press and hold the power button for 10 to 15 seconds to release the static from your system. Connect the ac adapter back to the system(without the battery) and see if the system powers on. If not, unplug the ac adapter and put the battery back in the system and try powering on the system(only with the battery). Please reply back with the results.

If that doesn't resuscitate the system, you can purchase a 2.5" SATA to USB case and mount the drive in it - and attach it to a working system.

I tried what you suggested, it didn't work. Though I observed something new this time which I hadn't before.

There is a light green LED on the power adapter which is on when I connect the power cable to the A/C socket , however when I connect the other end to the laptop that LED goes off. I thought it might be an issue with the adapter and so I tried my travel adapter with it and the same thing occurred. Any insights on this behavior?

Dell latitiude e 6410 with windows 7 not turning on.

Its connected to the tv through hdmi and like every other night, i shut it down before sleeping with the charger switched on. By the time i woke up in the morning, my tv was goin on and off every 3 seconds and my laptop totally went dead. Not even the adapter was working. The battery was fully charged though. I noticed some  black smudges (burnt?) at the hdmi port. The soot actually stained my finger a bit. I have been doing a lot of hard shutdowns oflate as it was not waking normally from sleep mode. Now what is the diagnosis? Why is my Tv going on and off too? was it a faulty hdmi cable or was it a power surge?

It's likely your mainboard is history - did you connect the TV with the power off or on?

The tv was in a standby mode when i shut down my laptop. When i connected my laptop in the evening, i think the tv was already on. What could have gone wrong? I guess i ll have to get a new mainboard but i wud like to know what actually happened.

It's never a good idea to connect anything when it's powered up - sounds like there was a short or surge from the TV to the notebook (which now may have damaged both devices).  ALWAYS power down both devices BEFORE you connect anything external that's not meant to be hot-plug.
