Dell Vostro 1500 - Firmware upgrade for Windows 8 installation

Dell Vostro 1500 has not been tested with Windows 8 as of now. Once it is tested, BIOS and Drivers would get uploaded on the drivers page.

Could you please confirm the following details:

1. Are you getting a message to enter password when you are  trying to update the BIOS?
2. Did you set any password for BIOS?

I have this laptop since 2007. I'm not sure, but maybe I forgot my password. Only way of reset is remove battery?

Could you please let me know when exactly do you get password message?

I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

Password that I need is the "admin password" which is required after entering BIOS on boot (press F2 after turn on my laptop). System password I remember.

is rare i have seen in the net some dell vostro 1500 with win 8

by the way dell vostro have no support or drivers for win 7  or win 8 because legally in main site dell is not compatible with win 7 or 8  in this case that mean u have to install win 8 under ur own  risk

My Vostro 1500 has been running 32bit Windows 7 with 4 gb of memory without problems for over 3 years now. I guess some have managed to install 64 bit windows 7, but the correct drivers are a hassle to find. I think there is a "coin cell" inside to keep the bios alive that you will need to remove to reset the bios password.

The registered owner needs to call Dell and verify ownership.  Dell will then generate a master password for the system.

I inherited a Dell Vostro 1500 a few months back due to the hdd was clicking and failing. I decided this morning to go buy a new hdd but didn't realize there is an admin password on the bios. No system password just the admin password. Are you able to help me?

dude enter to bios option .. password and just press enter and search option desactive password  but don´t write password or try to contact the seller of ur laptop  or  here    

or just searh in  google  (password bios dell vostro 1500)

I don't have anything to hide so I'll give them a call and see if they can help me out. Thanks

teh problem with bios passwords is ,, was personal configurations or personas password you will need a master universal password just check google
