Dell XPS M140 won't turn on - Help!

I have a Dell XPS M140 that will not turn on. About a month ago I bought a non-original replacement battery for the laptop and it was working fine. One morning, I tried turning it on and it wouldn’t powered on, all I have is a black screen. The AC adapter light is showing green. The light for the battery in the upper right corner of the computer is flashing orange, the remaining two status-lights do not light up. When I pushed the power button to turn it on, the power light flickers once and nothing happens. I also tried turning it on with the AC adapter plug-in without a battery, and it didn’t work neither. I know the hard drive is working as I took it out and accessed it in another computer as an external hard drive. Any suggestion on what might be the problem and how to fix it (if worthy while) will be appreciated,  Thank you.

Remove the battery and unplug the adapter from the system.  Hold the power button for 30 seconds.  Plug in and try again  -- if it won't power up, replace the system board.  If it WILL power up without the battery, the battery is bad - replace that.
