Did you install/reinstall the operating system? If yes,did you install the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
Start with the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.
Using Internet Explorer, go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, enter your operating system. Under Security, the fingerprint reader software should be there.
You could try...
Authentec AES2810 (Fingerprint Reader W7 64-bit) Also know as DigitalPersona.
Make a system restore point. Try the Embassy Suite Software, if looks like some type of security software. If it doesn't work, you can come back to what you currently have.
You can also try installing the Authentec AES2810 (Fingerprint Reader W7 64-bit) which I know is DigitalPersona, if it installs.
Authentec is not working. I have the Validity Sensor and it is not compatible with authentec... I think that I need the real Digital Persona setup file...
PS: sorry for my bad english.... I hope it's clear enough!
The embassy suite is a sort of encryption software, nothing about fingerprint management. Authentec is an alternative software like digital persona? So is not possible to download Digital Persona anymore? BTW the laptop is a Vostro 3500...
Hi Rick, the link you provided is just the driver for the fingerprint reader. What I'm missing is the DigitalPersona software (and all it's features like the plugin in Internet Explorer to remind all the various web passwords, the tray icon etc...)
What was the original operating system that shipped with the notebook? Please shoot me a private message with your name and service tag and I can verfiy if the system was purchased with Digital Persona.

T340,
Make and model of your computer and operating system is helpful. 32-bit or 64-bit?
Was the operating system recently installed/reinstalled?
