E7240 not working with PR03X docking station
My Lattitude e7240 when docked onto the PR03X docking station, the power adapter that is plugged into the PR03X completely goes dead. The only way I can reset the power is by unplugging and replugging the AC adapter FROM THE WALL. Tried the spacer. Tried double powering (1 adapter into the PR03X and another adapter into the e7240). Also tried plugging the laptop on first without power, and when powering up the laptop, it would boot up 10x slower than normal and sometimes hang. Also tried multiple other PR03X just to be sure the one i have is not faulty. The same problem is repeatable. The laptop has the latest BIOS.
It seems there is a power mismatch of some sort that would cause a) the adapter to fail, and then b) for the laptop to run extremely slow because of what???
Is the problem caused by a faulty docking port on the e7240?
I assume the PR03X is compatible to the e7240??
Anyone has this problem or resolution to it?

Hi,
I have this problem sorted with two chargers - one for laptop and separate one for the docking station. With those two everything is working well.

Yes, the PR03X is compatible with the E7240. What's probably going on here is that you're using the Laptop's 65W or 90W adapter with the dock. According to my parts list, the dock needs a 130W to function correctly.

I have the same setup: PR03X docking station with Dell E7240. The screen and power button light will flicking for quite some time and won't boot, and later went back to Hibernation or Sleep mode.
The voltage rating looks compatible. Is there a known issue with old dock and new machine? According to Dell website, the old dock should work.

I bought the same dock recently and thankfully when browsing eBay I noticed that they need a bigger 130W power supply. I got the dock with genuine power supply for £20 but there were a lot sold without or with knock-off power supplies.
