Inspiron 1420 Laptop reformatted but will not download drivers

My computer crashed for some unknown reason and I had to have a tech come out and use the manufactures driver to reformat it.  Then once we went through the initial Windows Vista startup we got to where we have to install the drivers.  It would open the boxes then close them.  nothing would happen.  So we used the netbook to download the drivers on to a flash drive, then tried to download them from there, nothing.  The tech had no more thoughts.  Can someone else please assist me.
